Within California, there are multiple no or low cost health insurance programs that are available for California’s uninsured children. Medi-Cal and Healthy Families are two state sponsored programs that also receive federal funding and provide coverage to the majority of children not covered by employer based programs. Additionally, there are a number of programs in some California counties that provide no or low cost health insurance to an extended population; these include Healthy Kids, Kaiser Child Health Plan, and others.
