Health Insurance Programs There are programs including HEALTHY FAMILIES and MEDI-CALthat provide health care coverage for children and teens in workingfamilies. HEALTHY FAMILIES provides low cost insurance for families with incomes toohigh to qualify for Medi-Cal. MEDI-CAL provides no-cost health insurance for families with low incomes. LOCAL PROGRAMS may be available if your child is not eligible for HealthyFamilies or Medi-Cal because your income is too high or because of yourchild's immigration status. BENEFITS Programs offer comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and mental healthcoverage. This includes hospitalizations, prescription medications, doctor'svisits, teeth cleanings and eyeglasses. Healthy Families and in many cases Medi-Cal offers a choice of privatehealth insurance plans.
